Victoria King, MFT- Relationship and Sex Therapist

Join Couples & Sex Therapist, Victoria King, LMFT, and other BIPOC & Multiracial couples on this 5-week, exploratory journey where each week you will learn and practice a new skill to take back into your relationship to help you thrive.

Do you struggle to communicate effectively in ways that build and foster love and intimacy?

There are many components that go into the mix of making love work but, being able to SPEAK in a way that your partner can HEAR and understand what you are sharing, and knowing how to LISTEN in a way your partner feels heard and UNDERSTOOD is paramount.

Unfortunately, hardly anyone is taught the fundamental skills needed to be successful in relationships. This class aims to teach you the communication skills that happy, successful couples use to thrive in long term relationships.

These essential skills can help you:

  • Listen to each other and share in ways that allow for full understanding and empathy

  • Master verbal and non-verbal communication and be more attuned to each other’s needs

  • Handle conflict in a more loving manner and repair the relationship after a fight

  • Create secure attachment bonds that build long lasting intimacy and deeper connection

  • Bring in more play, fun, and creativity to enliven your relationship

Class meets every Thursday evening, Oct 22, 2020, - Nov 19, 2020 5:30pm-7:30pm. PDT

$495 per couple

Q & A:

Why are you offering this class only to BIPOC folx & their partners?

As a completely BIPOC owned and run business, we have a deep commitment to supporting BIPOC folx. The Center’s founders and admin team are all BIPOC. Also 20-25% of our practitioners are BIPOC.  However, there are not currently enough individual BIPOC relationship and sex therapists to accommodate the community’s needs so we hope that classes such as these, may bridge the gap and provide the support needed.

Can I attend by myself?

Not for this class. We are asking that both members of the couple be present for every class.

What if I have to miss a class?

Please do your best to make each class. However, we realize that life inevitably presents us with unforeseen circumstances in which case you may have to miss a class. Please email me in advance if you will be missing a class and I will do my best to share any missed information with you.

Is this group therapy?

While I hope this class feels therapeutic in many ways, the class is not group therapy. This is a skills-building class. Thus, you may be asked to briefly share about your experiences with the skills in the larger group, but will, for the most part, be practicing with your partner.

Note: This class is not suitable for those who are in the midst of a major conflict such as divorce, are experiencing Intimate Partner Violence, or have untreated severe mental illness. If you have questions about whether this class is suitable for you, please contact me directly prior to registering.

Will everything be confidential?

We ask that all who attend limit their sharing to their own experience and keep confidential anything anyone else happens to share. However, we cannot guarantee that this request will be upheld. For that reason, when you are in the larger group, please share only what you feel comfortable sharing.

Teacher’s instructions may be recorded with the group’s consent in order to share with those who miss a class. We will avoid recording anything shared by participants.

Will you be teaching about sex in this class?

This class will be focused primarily on foundational communication skills which can sometimes lead to greater sexual intimacy,  however, we won't specifically cover skills around sexual intimacy in this class.

Following this class, I will be offering a fundamentals of sex & intimacy class. The Couples Communications class will be a pre-requisite to take the sex & intimacy class, because, let's face it, if you don’t have good communication skills around day-to-day topics, it will be hard to talk about sex.

When will we meet?

We will meet for 10 hours over 5 classes:

October 22, 2020 5:30pm

October 29, 2020 5:30pm

November 5, 2020 5:30pm

November 12, 2020 5:30pm

November 19, 2020 5:30pm
